Here’s a look at my new little wireless iPad Loopy Pro fly rig. It’s built to be as portable and hassle-free as possible, all packed neatly into a Pelican case.

The heart of it is the Teenage Engineering TX6 interface. It’s tiny and sounds great, but it doesn’t have mic preamps — so I run wireless instead: two Lectrosonics LT transmitters into an SRC receiver handle instrument and vocal channels. For in-ears, I use a Lectrosonics DCHT feeding my M2RA IEM pack, paired with my Ultimate Ears Capital Studios monitors for a nice flat sound.

All the audio going to the house runs from the TX6’s 3.5 mm outputs straight to DIs to keep everything balanced and clean. There are four outputs to front of house plus one dedicated to my in-ears.

For control, I’ve got Loopy Pro on the iPad and a Keith McMillen SoftStep 3 foot controller for hands-free looping and effects.

I keep all the extra bits, adapters, and cables tidy in a Peak Design bag, which makes setting up and packing down really quick.

The next step is improving power distribution so only one power cable has to run out of the rig and everything else gets powered neatly from there. Still figuring out whether to go with a small power conditioner or just a short extension cord, but the goal is to keep it simple. I also think I can make it fully battery powered pretty easily. I looked into the Sony style L and M battery mount and there’s a sled for one to be DC barrel jack for the DCT and then there’s another one that will clip right onto the SRC because I have the sled.
