Black Myth: Wukong: How to Defeat the Monk from the Sea & Unlock the Hoarfrost Transformation Spell

The Monk from the Sea is an optional miniboss in Black Myth: Wukong's Chapter 3, hiding within the New Thunderclap Temple. This supercharged version of the Sea Monks you’ve fought before is now infused with frost powers, making him a formidable opponent.

For this fight, equip chill-resistant items to counter his frost-based attacks. He uses his tentacles to strike with three-hit combos and spinning sweeps—deflecting these or immobilizing him mid-swing is key to surviving. Watch out for his massive snowy boulder throw, and don’t let the smaller rocks at a distance fool you—they still hurt!

His frost aura will quickly fill your chill meter, so keep repositioning to avoid freezing up. Look out for his deceptive leap attacks where he stabs down and follows with a ground slam, creating a damaging blast. Stay mobile and time your dodges carefully.
