 Netflix has shared an update on subscription prices and the future of HBO Max. This comes in the wake of the announcement on December 5 that the streaming giant will be purchasing Warner Bros. (including its film and television studios as well as HBO's network and streaming service) for $83 billion.  Netflix sent an email to subscribers at 12:43 a.m. ET announcing what subscribers can expect in the immediate future. They have reassured users that "nothing is changing today" and that HBO Max "will continue to operate separately" for the time being. This is because the deal has not fully been closed.  The Netflix deal still needs to be approved by shareholders and regulatory bodies, and the overall process of acquiring Warner Bros. (which is itself still in the process of splitting from Discovery following their 2022 merger) is expected to take between 12 and 18 months. However, once that time has elapsed, things could still change.  Netflix shares that "you'll hear from us when we have more to share." Read the relevant paragraph from their email below:  Netflix's email also links to an FAQ page assuring subscribers that changes will not be made until the deal is closed. They repeat that "nothing is changing with your membership today," that subscription prices are not currently being changed, and that nothing is changing with users' watch histories, profiles, or recommendations.  However, the reassuring statements are dotted with words including "today" and "currently," leaving room for a major overhaul to potentially take place once the deal is officially closed, most likely in 2027.  This reassurance echoes Netflix's update about the future of Warner Bros.' theatrical distribution. During a media conference call on December 5, Netflix co-EO Ted Sarandos said that the current planned theatrical releases from Warner Bros. will still be put out in theaters.  While this is subject to change, the release schedule as previously announced includes the upcoming Dune: Part Three, Supergirl, Mortal Kombat II, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, A Minecraft Movie 2, The Batman - Part II, and Man of Tomorrow.
