March 9, 1988 Pete Franklin Show WFAN 1050

There's not a lot of extant material on the net of WFAN from the 1050 era (1987-88). This is 40 plus minutes of Pete Franklin in March 1988 (following a Mets spring training game). Franklin, an acerbic host from Cleveland was supposed to be the big star of the new sports radio station but New York audiences reacted negatively to him and he was gone after just two years, to be ultimately replaced by the phenom that was Mike and the Mad Dog. Ed Coleman, still with the station today as the Mets beat reporter does the update. Notice also how FAN back in these early days insisted on giving us a full-blown news update as well with a story on Jack Kemp dropping out of the 1988 Presidential race.
