When you have diabetic eye disuse, sometimes you can have accumulation of water in the macula or the centre part of the retina. So in order to reduce the water in the central part of the retina or the macula , the macular region, we give something called as intravitreal injection. The eye doctor gives something called as intravitreal injection, an injection which is given into the eye. So this is a standard form of treatment, so this will improve the vision for your patients with diabetes. The only pre condition is at the time of injection, you need to have a good control of diabetes. So that is your post meal glucose who should be less than 170 or 180 and your fasting sugar should be around 100 to 140, atleast in this range. So we do get reference from all over Bangalore city to control the blood glucose of the patients who are going to undergo intravitreal injection, or injection into the eye and injection into the eye can protect and preserve the vision. If the vision is reducing, it can prevent it from worsening and also improve vision in some cases.
