Sha Wa ( Deer) is one the wrathful deities of Shay Tho. Among all wrathful deities Sha Wa ( Deer) has a special place.The Sha Wa ( Deer ) chaam (Dance) accepted as male protector deity whose movements call forth the disruptive forces to spiritual development and accepted as a great protector.
The Sha wa chaam is usually performed by the Champon ( Head Dancer ) as it requires great deal of meditation and stamina. During the course of dance Linga ( bhutia term for effigy), popularly known as Achar ko Bachha among young people here in Sikkim is laid on the ground it is in this linga the evil spirit of destroyer of Buddhism and mankind are trapped with the special rituals of wrathful deities and Champon during the course of dancing cuts of Linga into pieces resulting to over powering evil spirit and liberation of the evil souls from cycle of birth and death
