Quick guide on how to defeat and evade Mysterio in the Uncollected event this month on Marvel Contest Of Champions.

Mysterio in this Marvel Contest of Champions Uncollected video is perhaps not as hard as some past bosses but he is still tricky so here is my video on how to evade his specials and tips to help defeat him.

Chemical Gas

At the start of the fight Mysterio starts to collect chemical gas charges. When he gets 3 charges 8 seconds after that the chemical gas which is basically poison is transferred to you and if you are not immune to poison it will do a huge amount of damage. So, what can you do?

1. First is obviously use a poison immune champ as you will take no damage at all from the chemical gas but there is one exception to that rule. The node itself has Nano I believe it is called. If you use a poison immune robot champ the poison debuff will actually turn into shock damage and still tear you apart.

2. Spiderverse champions - If you knock down Mysterio with a spiderverse champion it will break his helmet which will delay his abilities for 10 seconds including pausing the chemical gas creation.

3. Armor Break Champions - Armor breaking Mysterio also breaks his helmets and will also delay and stop his abilities much like the spiderverse champions.

4. Baiting Specials before the 3 charges transfer - If you bait out his special attack before he transfers the 3 charges any charges, he has on him will be consumed instead and used to enhance his special attack abilities. This is a bit of a win lose situation. You won't take poison damage which is a win but the charges will not enhance his abilities which is a loss.


Special One Attack

In the video I show how to evade the attack but what does this attack actually do.

After the special 1 attack animation Mysterio goes onto Reflection Gas Mode

Reflection Gas Mode

1. Last for 4 seconds plus 1 second per any chemical gas charges that might have been consumed
2. During this time any damage you do to Mysterio is stored
3. When the timer expires 70% of the damage you did is reflexed back to you
4. 100% of the damage you did is also turned into regeneration for Mysterio

So, what is to be learned from this? Do not strike after his special 1 while his reflection gas timer is going. Just parry and run away unless you think you can kill him before the timer expires, once the timer expires, he will regenerate all damage taken and you will take a beating with 70% back at you.


Special 2 Attack

Insanely easy to evade just keep your distance

After Special 2 animations are complete, he goes into Illusion Gas Mode

Illusion Gas Mode

1. Last for 4 seconds again plus 1 second per any chemical gas charges that might have been consumed
2. You will lose 6% Power every second the Illusion Gas Timer is up (yes even if he actually didn't hit you with the attack)
3. During the timer you will have a 25% chance to miss him if you attack
4. That miss chance increases to 100% if he happens to be charging a heavy attack.

So, after a special 2 your safest bet is to just parry stun him and try to hit him once or maybe twice if you want to be a little risky. Do not go for your full combo or use your specials because they might miss and he will attack back after parry stun timer is off. Safe bet is just trying to get in one or two basic attacks while he is stunned that way if you miss, he will still be in stun mode.


His Heavy attack also transfers whatever chemical gas charges are on him at the time, so watch out for that animation, he can be pretty quick with it and sometimes he just freaks out and starts using multiple heavy attacks, saw that a few times.
