"Hi!
My name is Mary and I am a recent graduate from the University of San Francisco. My experience with kids started when I was 11 when I would take care of my younger brother while my parents went to work or parent-teacher meetings.

I enjoy reading books to children and creating fun, innovative, educational activities for them to do. I love storytelling since it allows me to interact with kids by playing the different roles of the characters in the books. I am also very artistic and skilled with arts and crafts which I love to do with kids for fun. I love being outside and active since I cheered competitively in high school for 4 years. I also have special training in cheer and gymnastics, which I could also show your kids if they are interested.

I have experience with child care as both an assistant director and a director for youth workshops at the Santa Monica Playhouse. There I was responsible for supervising and leading kids between the ages of 5-15 in activities including lunch, and break hours.
I also worked as a director for the "early-stages" group at the same theater. This group consisted of kids ages ranging from 3-6 and the class was from 9am-noon. I was responsible for setting up snacks, organizing activities such as: reading story books, drawing, memorizing lines for the play they would participate in, and playing theater games.

Kids need homework help? I also have spent a lot of time tutoring at libraries for elementary and middle school kids because I want to help them understand and succeed in their academics.

I have experience caring for toddlers and infants from caring for my brother and cousins as well as sitting for many families over time. Given that experience I am very comfortable with changing diapers and soothing toddlers and infants when they cry. I am also very patient when dealing with separation anxiety that toddlers may initially have when their parents leave.

From my experience I have learned how to deal with different types of kids and how to handle difficult situations such as when kids change their mood. I have been told by many parents that their children always talk about how I handle situation's in a fair and fun manner and make them want to come to class or tutoring. I am very patient with kids and always do my best to understand their needs as their safety and happiness is my priority.
