Taken from I Corinthians 2:1-10, Pastor Winfield exhorts us to expect great things from God. This requires faith. The passage says that our faith should “rest on the power of God,” not the “wisdom of men.” This means that God’s power and His wisdom is something that can’t be understood from the world’s perspective. “No eye has seen no ear has heard what God has prepared for those that love Him.”

Pastor Winfield asks a searching question: What do you believe about your life? Whatever principles, thoughts or ideas govern your life is what will manifest in your life. Many times we lay blame elsewhere for negative situations, but what do we believe? Are we limited by an earthly perspective, an earthly belief system? We must expect the blessing of God to experience it.

Pastor Winfield urges his congregation to live outside worldly limitations, to believe “I can do all things through Christ.” The world cannot compete with the power of God, but it is our choice – what belief system will we operate in?

Another way to talk about the power of God is the ability of God. His power can transform your situation, transform you. Often we ask God to change our situation; however, He wants to change us and empower us so that we can face our circumstances, not hide from them. This lifechanging power delivers us from a life limited by low expectations.

Pastor Winfield then explains the spiritual law of progression: God’s way of moving things forward. This is a three-step process best understood through Christ’s crucifixion: First, God reveals it (His Son), then He kills it (Christ’s death on the cross), and finally he resurrects it (Christ’s resurrection and accession).

Pastor Winfield points out that death doesn’t mean the end. Death is a transition; it separates us from the world. It takes us to the next level of our journey and heralds a new beginning.

Another example of this is found in the story of Joseph. God gave him a vision. His brothers were intimidated by this vision and plotted against him, eventually selling him into slavery. This, however, was all part of God’s plan. This situation progressed Joseph into his destiny and a blessing that would, in turn, bless others.

Pastor Winfield closes with this thought: No one can out-plan or out-prepare God. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. His ways are higher than our ways. We cannot imagine what He has prepared for those who love Him, but He is intent on preparing us for the blessing He has planned.

We must progress and grow in our faith to experience the full blessing and purpose that He wants to give us. Let God transform your belief system by rejecting the wisdom of this world and expecting great things from a God who is more than able.
