After last week's 17-degree freeze in our North Florida area, we have been getting a lot of questions about St. Augustine lawn's and sod's response to that frost.
"Will my St. Augustine sod survive the frost?"
"What can I do to ensure my St. Augustine lawn doesn't die after the frost?"
"My St. Augustine lawn turned completely brown after the frost!"

The truth is, if there is green in the bottom of the grass blades and stolons at all, this is just winter dormancy that has been created by last weeks' frost. Some areas of North Florida got hit harder than others.

It will bounce back great in spring as long as you keep it watered throughout the winter into spring. If there are dead spots from a deep frost damage or if you had your irrigation running that nights (highly recommend Hunter Hydrawise system to avoid this) we can fertilize in spring to help fill in the damaged areas once we get into spring.
