What are Douglas McGregor's Theory X and Theory Y: Process of Model of Motivation

Описание к видео What are Douglas McGregor's Theory X and Theory Y: Process of Model of Motivation

Douglas McGregor offers us two theories for the price of one: Theory X and Theory Y. But, in truth, they largely represent two ends of a spectrum of approaches to management and motivation. They are the logical development of the work Elton Mayo did and his conclusions on Scientific Management.

LESSON NOTES
============
Theory X managers work on the assumptions we need to provide clear incentives or threats to compel people to do their work. Their approach is to tell people what to do. They expect compliance and motivate in a highly transactional way.

Theory Y managers have a different set of assumptions. They believe people want to do good work, and give them opportunities to attain satisfaction from doing so.
