The CRD's choice of using Kapoor Singh Siddoo's family name is a commendable choice on their part. The CNR Leechtown Station is long gone (built 1922) and these CRD park improvements lay squarely within the boundaries of Kapoor Regional Park Reserve (KRP). CRD got ownership of KRP in a land-swap with Kapoor Lumber Company (KLC) some years ago.

Kapoor Singh Sidhu entered Canada from Punjab, India, at Victoria BC in 1912 after spending his first six-years in North America in San Francisco. Upon commencing his foray into the Canadian business world, he thought it prudent to change the spelling of his last name to Siddoo -- making it easier for European associates to spell it.

So many business associates found it simpler to call him Kapoor, he adopted that name as his own. His registered name, Kapoor Singh Siddoo, remains to this day and is his official, personal name. Kapoor died February 16, 1964 in Aur, India at age 79 years. Kapoor was one of British Columbia's most successful immigrant entrepreneurs and philanthropists.

Kapoor |Lands in the Goldstream and Sooke Lake area still total 2447 hectares (6000+ acres) and are being actively logged in 2014. Today, Kapoor's legacy is carried out in part by his granddaughter, Dr. Chanda Siddoo-Atwal living in Vancouver, BC.
