GANJA SMUGGLING RACKET BUSTED- AN INTERSTATE DRUG PEDDLER WAS HELD –SEIZED (150)-KGs OF GANJA, A TOYOTO ETIOS CAR, ONE MOBILE PHONE & NET CASH RS.2,500/-, TOTAL WORTH RS.20,00,000/- (TWENTY LAKHS RUPEES).

Today i.e. on 03/03/2020 afternoon hours, on receipt of credible information, the sleuths of Special Operations Team (SOT), LB Nagar Zone with the assistance of Saroornagar Police, nabbed a drug peddler namely Jatavath Venkanna while he was transporting the contraband drug i.e. Ganja from Vizag agency area to Karnataka via Hyderabad. Seized (150) kilograms of ganja, a Toyota Etios car, Net cash Rs.2,500/- and one mobile phone, all worth Rs.20,00,000/- from his possession.

BRIEF FACTS:

The accused Jatavath Venkanna is a B.Tech graduate from VIF College of Engineering and Technology, Moinabad Mandal, RR District and qualified for GATE examination in the year 2008 & 2009. He subsequently joined in NIT, Calicut of Kerala State and spent there for a period of about (6) months. But, since he failed in the 1st semester, he was disqualified for further studies. Later, he came to Hyderabad and prepared for certain Govt jobs, but could not succeed. Upon that, he acquired a subsidy vehicle i.e. Toyota Etios bearing


no.TS-08-UA-8039 from ST Corporation and started eking out his livelihood by means of car driver.

During the year 2015, he addicted for betting on horse racing. Thus, he used to visit Race Club, Malakpet, Hyderabad and spend money extravagantly on betting. While the things stood thus, during the year 2016, the accused Jatavath Venkanna gave an amount of one lakh rupees to his cousin namely Balaji as hand loan. He subsequently noticed that his cousin used to invest such money in illegal peddling of ganja. Thus, once he accompanied his cousin to Tuni, Anakapalli, Vaddadi and Madgula areas of Visakhapatnam district, got acquainted to the Ganja sellers A-2 Pilla Naidu @ Rajesh, A-3 Madula Babu Rao and A-4 Ganta Ganesh and collected their mobile numbers. Later, since the year 2017, he too started the illicit trafficking of ganja in order to earn easy money. He so far transported the Ganja more than (10) times by his Etios car via Hyderabad and sold the same to A-5 Abdul Razak Kasbag R/o Maharashtra and A-6 Sathar @ Sarpanch R/o. Maharashtra. He used to purchase the Ganja at the rate of Rs.3,000/- per Kilogram and sell it at the rate of 8,000/-.

Likewise, yesterday i.e. on 03/03/2020, the accused Jatavath Venkanna went to Vaddadi village, Butchayyapeta (M) of Vishakapatnam district procured (150) Kgs ganja in (75) packets each packet containing (2) Kgs from his source i.e. A-2 to A-4 concealed them underneath the back seats of his Toyota Etios car bearing No.TS-08-UA-8039 and left the Vizag Agency area for transporting it to Karnataka via Hyderabad and sell it to one A-5 Abdul Razak Kasbag & A-6 Sathar @ Sarpanch both R/o. Mumbai, Maharashtra State.

Today i.e., on 02/03/2020 at afternoon hours, on reliable information, the sleuths of SOT, LB Nagar Zone along with the Saroor Nagar police of Rachakonda Police Commissionerate, intercepted the above vehicle near Shalini Theatre, Kothapet under Saroornagar PS limits and caught the A-1 Jatavath Venkanna in possession of (150) Kgs of Ganja as mentioned supra.

The above arrests were made under the supervision of Sri Mahesh M Bhagwat, IPS., Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda Police Commissionerate, Sri G. Sudheer Babu, IPS., Addl. Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda Police Commissionerate, under the guidance of Sri J. Surender Reddy, Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police, Special Operations Team, Rachakonda, by Sri T. Ravi Kumar, Inspector of Police, E. Srinivas Reddy, Inspector of Police, Saroor Nagar police station and Sri A.A. Raju Sub-Inspector & staff of Special Operations Team
