2006 RetroSkins Highlights: Washington Redskins vs New Orleans Saints

Описание к видео 2006 RetroSkins Highlights: Washington Redskins vs New Orleans Saints

The 2006 debacle was pretty much a season to forget for the Redskins... but there were the occasional moments worth remembering. Included among them, this surprise win over Drew Brees and the up-and-coming New Orleans Saints.

A rare division title awaited the 9-4 Saints on this day, with their match-up vs the 4-9 Redskins seemingly a mere formality. By day's end, the Saints did win the NFC South, but not the game (results elsewhere made it so) as the Redskins played inspired football to upset Nawlin's in front of an expectant Superdome crowd.

Jason Campbell was uncommonly sharp, Ladell Betts ran it like he meant it, and the defense was unyielding as Washington pulled an upset that left 'Skins fans wondering where this level of play had been all season. Game balls to Carlos Rogers and Sean Taylor (sigh...) for inspired play in the secondary to limit Drew Brees, Reggie Bush and the NFLs #1 offense to a measly 10 points.

This would be Joe Gibbs' last match-up vs the Saints, as Coach Joe finished 6-1 vs N.O. (including an impressive 4-1 in the Superdome). This would also be the first of four (count 'em, folks) Redskin wins over Drew Brees.

Kenny Albert and Brian Baldinger on the call as the party-pooper Redskins spoil the Saint's NFC South clinching celebration in the Big Easy.

This 2006 game is HD captured from an original DVR to DVD recording, so the starting quality is of course better than 80's-90's VHS, but also better vs other games from this period previously posted here w/o HD capture. So... yeah we'll redo those '06-'09 highlights (some day).
