Fighting to be heard: Queer filmmaking in adversity | BFI Future Film Festival 2023 event

Описание к видео Fighting to be heard: Queer filmmaking in adversity | BFI Future Film Festival 2023 event

Supported by The London School of English

A panel discussion about how filmmakers working in oppressive regimes can be supported.

This session will platform the voices of marginalised LGBTQIA+ filmmakers based both in the UK and beyond, hailing from hostile environments across the globe.

Fighting to be heard will give you an insight into the reality of being a queer filmmaker in some of the most hazardous conditions, and open up the conversation towards how we can continue to platform and support marginalised LGBTQIA+ filmmakers from right here at home.

Joined by award-winning directors, producers, performers, and advocates, we will share the beauty of queer narratives beyond the Western binary and highlight a need for solidarity, awareness, and support for the future of queer filmmaking.

This event is supported by The London School of English.

Speakers:

Pamela Adie – activist and filmmaker
Adam Ali – actor
Roy Dib – artist and filmmaker
Yi Wang – Festival and Programme Director, Queer East Festival
Host: Caleb Roberts – BFI Film Academy Young Programmer
