🐄 Origin

The Kandhari cow comes from Kandahar (Afghanistan) and is also found in Balochistan (Pakistan) and nearby dry regions.

It is a traditional breed raised for both milk and work.

🌿 Physical Appearance

Size: Medium to large body, strong and compact.

Color: Usually reddish-brown, dark brown, or sometimes black, often with small white spots on the body or face.

Head: Broad forehead with a slightly pointed muzzle.

Horns: Short to medium length, curved slightly outward and upward.

Hump: Well-developed hump on the shoulders (typical of Zebu cattle).

Skin/Coat: Smooth, shiny coat well-suited to hot, dry climates.

💪 Characteristics

Milk: Moderate milk production with good fat content, suitable for making butter and ghee.

Strength: Strong and hardy; often used for ploughing fields and pulling carts.

Adaptability: Can survive on poor grazing land and withstand heat and drought.

Temperament: Generally calm and easy to handle.
