In a major success in solving Bahraich case, UP Police nabbed 5 accused near Nepal border. Two out of the five arrested in the Bahraich violence were injured in an encounter and three others were taken into custody. The accused Sarfaraz and Mohammad Talib were shot in the leg by the police while they were trying to flee to Nepal. The encounter has triggered a political row over the UP govt’s famous ‘encounter policy’. Congress has criticised the UP govt, attributing the violence in Bahraich to the failure of both the state govt and the administration.
Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav attacked the state government accusing it of carrying out encounters to cover up their failure. Meanwhile, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi criticised the UP govt questioning the actions taken by the police. Taking to ‘X’, he cited the "Thok Denge" policy of UP CM and called for a rather legal punishment against the accused. However, BJP leaders defended the action taken by UP Police and called it an appropriate treatment to the ‘criminals’.Recently, Ramgopal Mishra was killed after a clash erupted between two communities during Durga idol immersion procession.
