Assignments Planning is everything to do with assigning resources to the tasks of the project. The resources may be named or generic labor resources. Or the assigned resources may represent material resources, or expenses.
When you do assign resources to the tasks of a project you can understand:

Who is working on what, when?

Do we have sufficient resources to complete all the work on time?

Are we assigning resources work beyond their capacity? (overallocating resources).

We will walk through the various ways in which Microsoft Project assigns resources. The assign resources dialog box, task form, and Resource Name column, each providing a different level of granularity. Also covered will be task types and effort-driven scheduling, and how these factors play an extremely important role in how your schedule behaves when resources as assigned, as well as when the project schedule is updated to show progress.

By the end of this session students will have a solid understanding of how to assign resources in Microsoft Project as well as control the behavior of the project schedule.
