During this live rail safety demonstration at the Transportation Technology Center, attendees experienced the ZoneGuard Portable Kit in action. Two Train Detector Modules (TDMs) were placed within the track bed facing up at the outer limits of the work zone (in this case, near the signal light shown in the video).

As the train passed over the detector, the TDM recognized it as a train using LiDAR and accelerometer data. The system instantly sent alerts to the wearable devices attached to the crew’s safety vests and to the Train Alert Modules (TAMs) positioned within the work zone.
