The theme of the 2024 Rendezvous was "The Quarry of Falconry" and included five invited speakers to present on classic falconry quarry from the point of view of falconers and/or wildlife science professionals. The Archives of Falconry's 2024 Rendezvous took place in April, in Boise, Idaho USA.

Title: Ecology and Conservation of Jackrabbits: Undervalued Pillars of Sustainable Ecosystems

Speaker: Jennifer Frey, PhD. Professor New Mexico State Univ. Dept of Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Ecology, and Curator of the Fish and Wildlife Museum

Jackrabbits are important to ecosystem function and maintaining biodiversity by virtue of their outsized contribution to animal biomass. Historical, ongoing, and novel contemporary threats have resulted in substantial declines for many of these important species. Yet, because jackrabbits are generally undervalued by both the scientific community and the public, research has lagged and stymied enactment of conservation efforts to reverse trends.
