Do your employees know what your brand is? As your business grows and you hire more people, it is important that everyone be on the same page about the brand and how it should be communicated and delivered. In this video, we will cover how you can build a strong brand, one that stands out, creates loyalty, and great word of mouth referrals. To kick off the video series here, I share four impactful ways that I’ve seen CEOs can share and inspire their people with the brand story.

During onboarding training. This is the perfect time because you have their undivided attention, so explain the brand promise and their role in delivering on it. Whether in person or on video, this brand training should be communicated by the CEO, who is the steward of the brand.
Through repetition and reinforcement in strategic meetings. For example, for one client we created postcards with the brand promise on one side and the company core values on the other. In every meeting, the CEO would ask if a decision made was going to strengthen the brand and support company values. If yes, proceed. If not, drop the idea. You can also get posters made of the brand promise or profiles of your target customer to hang around the building. They are great reminders of what you do and who you do it for.

Having ‘lunch and learn’ sessions. Host an annual employee lunch to reinforce any brand training. Show everyone in the company the marketing material you’ve created to attract customers. You can also use these sessions as a fun and comfortable environment for employees to discuss ideas on how to improve the customer experience even more
Brand ambassador programs. You can get employees more involved by asking for a volunteer to be the Chief Brand Ambassador. This key employee can give shout outs or awards to fellow employees for delivering on the brand effectively. If employees see others get publicly praised for their efforts in strengthening the brand, that behavior will be emulated.

You need to be consistent in what you say and the experience you deliver. That means EVERYONE in the organization, from the CEO or President who sets the tone of the brand, to the salespeople and customer service reps who deliver on it, must know the role they play in delighting the customer. A strong brand makes it easier to attract and retain employees and customers. This is important because this is what allows your company to be more profitable and grow faster.
