A very young and very Welsh sounding Desmond Llewellyn (aka Q) in the British film They were not Divided made in 1950.

The film begins in a WW II training depot of a British Guards armoured regiment where recruits from many walks of life learn to survive the strict discipline and training together before going into battle in tanks. Normandy, liberation of France, Belgium, Market Garden before the finale at the Battle of the Bulge.

A classic. Superb war portrait. A tank regiment from 1939 to the end of the war. Made using lots of original wartime footage and original locations. The crew even had a real Tiger tank and a real Panther tank, possibly in the original locations in which they were knocked out. A classic script enunciated with classic cut-glass RADA accents. Chock full of characters from central casting, most of whom would have been in the war anyway.

The film was directed by Terence Young , who would go on to direct several Bond films.
