   • Everest's Original Tan Hill Inn TV Ad...

so in this vlog we are in the yorkshire dales and we are going to have a close look at this historic building.... The highest pub in Britain...
Now we will be stopping overnight at the Tan Hill Inn and i have heard its haunted !!.....So maybe we will see or hear a ghost.....hope not...
but i do hope to see how the new owners Mike and Andrew are bringing this amazing historic venue right up to date.
The highest pub in Britain standing at 1732 ft above sea level
Now this pub as you can imagine gets cut off regularly during the winter months due to bad weather....snow in particular.
In fact the band Scouting for girls were stranded here for quite a few days due to heavy snow.
And on a few occasions revellers have been unable to leave for two or three days after new year’s parties (Can you imagine being snowed in the pub for days mmm i can think of worse)...
The building dates back to the 17th century and in the 18th century was used as a hostel by workers digging coal pits.
Now it is unusual today for its isolation but the inn was not always on its own ...miners lived in cottages that surrounded tan hill and would sing and get drunk in the pub. They were demolished with the closure of the mines in the early 20th Century.

The late ted Moult dropped a feather next to the window as a gale raged outside.
They had the feather on display next to a picture of Ted but it was unfortunately stolen by a stag party form Leeds.
Apparently there is a reward for the safe return of the feather. The feather being dropped on the inside of the window frame was to show that the windows did not let any droughts in.
“”in fact now days this is the only drought you will find up ear.””
2000 Embracing new technology, Tan Hill Inn was launched onto the World Wide Web where it is hoped to attract interest and custom. in-fact 2001 website wins a Silver Award for best pub website.
The Tan Hill Inn was described in 2012 in The Observer as “eccentrically run…with something of a reputation for being the Fawlty Towers of north Yorkshire…
The pub has seen significant changes since it came under new ownership in June last year when the owners set about implementing a variety of improvements, which included replacing the ageing electrics.
Mr Hields said: “Some £100,000 has been spent behind the scenes that no-one can see.
“We spent £50,000 on the rooms and £50,000 on the communal areas.”
Another £45,000 has gone into the planning and design of another £500,000 development of the pub, which will involve removing the old shipping container that housed the pub’s generator and installing a rustic spa, enlarging the kitchen and adding luxury rooms.
Mr Hields said: “We are replacing the unused ugly areas with an area that people can come and enjoy.”
Also on the cards is a star-gazing conservatory, which is significant as the inn is situated in a designated Dark Skies area.
The landlord said: “People can dine under the stars or, when it is snowy, view the snowy landscape.”
Big names line up to perform
FAMOUS for hosting concerts by the likes of the Arctic Monkeys and Mark Ronson, Tan Hill Inn is bringing a host of top artists from the 1980s to the region next year.
Among those booked to perform so far are Kim Wilde, Big Country and From The Jam.
All have been welcomed by the inn’s 35,000 Facebook followers.
Pub landlord Andrew Hields said: “Kim Wilde sold out in the first week so that really opened our eyes.
