As Poland assumes the EU Council Presidency on January 1, 2025, a pivotal moment emerges for the European Union. With the new European Commission eager to demonstrate its effectiveness during its first 100 days in office, and the war in Ukraine entering its fourth year, Europe faces unprecedented challenges. At the same time, the incoming administration of Donald Trump ushers in a period of uncertainty for transatlantic relations. With a constructive vision, Poland seeks to leverage its presidency to strengthen Europe’s unity, fortify its strategic autonomy, and redefine transatlantic relations in a way that balances continued partnership. How can Poland shape a cohesive EU response to these geopolitical and internal realities?
Polityka Insight, the European Council on Foreign Relations, and the Permanent Representation of Poland to the EU invite you to an event discussing the challenges ahead. This debate will also serve as a prelude to our annual conference, the Warsaw European Conversation, scheduled to take place on March 14, 2025, in Warsaw.
