WNYW Sign Off 1988

This is the sign-off clip of WNYW (‪@fox5ny‬), The FOX O&O Station taken on February 24, 1988. The Sign-off Sequence starts with the Alternate Station I.D. of WNYW with the tagline "Serving The Tri-State Area", Followed by the Sermonette featuring Capt. James Shaffstall, Then a sign-off announcement with updated graphics and the words "Good Night" all capitalized, and a voiceover of the sign-off is Chuck Caron who was among the Metromedia holdovers from WNEW-TV carried over to WNYW. The U.S. Marine Corps. Star Spangled Banner follows the sign-off notice. However, the color bars are not shown at the end of the video.

WNYW's transmitter is still at the WTC Site but at the top of One World Trade Center. However 13 years after the sign-off clip was recorded, The North Tower, WNYW's original WTC transmitter site collapsed on September 11, 2001, due to the effects of American Airlines Flight 11's impact on the tower.
