WORKING WITH LIMITATIONS

Описание к видео WORKING WITH LIMITATIONS

In the last few years, there has been a huge interest in the emerging research and findings pertaining to training with specific limitations and less direct technical guidance. It goes by many names: Constraint-led approach, ecological approach, non-linear pedagogy, etc.

The idea is that rather than overly burden the student with specific technical data, they are given an over-riding goal in a given drill, and then aspects of either the environment, the performer, or the task are modified. One way this can be done is through the imposition of limitations.

Some years back, I posted this very same video, but I ended up taking it down because people didn't understand. and I was simply tired of the comments. It's the type of work that if you just watch it without context, you can easily dismiss it. The minute you perform this type of work, however, the challenge, stress inoculation, and adaptability benefits are obvious. So, because I'm getting a lot of questions about this work again and now more and more people are seeking this type of training, I'm reposting the clip for those who get it.
