‘Meet The Artist’ (No: 70) | Batool Showghi | Mixed Media Artist

Mixed media artist Batool Showghi explores themes of cultural heritage, memory, identity, and loss.  In response to the recent uprising of Iranian women, Batool has created a series of textile works around the theme of Struggle and Rise of Women.  She uses images of family birth certificates, passports and old photographs to create her work. Each piece is stitched then embellished with hand written text in Farsi. Her work reflects the struggle of women across the world, especially in Iran and Afghanistan. Batool was born in Iran and moved to England in 1985. Filmed at the Knitting & Stitching Show, London 2023.
