This a 2022 BMW M4 Competition. It’s got the ZF 8-speed automatic, and AWD

And all that makes it the quickest M4 ever. However, there’s something even more special about this particular car….

This is the KITH edition m4 comp, which means it’s 1 of 150 to ever exist..making it, not only the quickest M4 ever, but the rarest and most exclusive also - so I’m very fortunate to get to check it out from my friends over at International BMW in West Allis WI…

If you’re not familiar, KITH is an american streetwear brand created back in 2011 by [now]iconic designer Ronnie Fieg

Fieg’s work, vision, and creativity not only propelled KITH to the forefront of fashion, but also to the epicenter of modern culture.

To give some context as to how big a deal this is, this is the first time that BMW have engaged in a collaboration with a designer like this…and it’s also the first time this roundel on the hood here has been anything other than the typical blue and white

It’s also worth mentioning that BMW could have gone with anyone for this collab project: Supreme, Gucci, or Louie Vuitton..but no, it says KITH on the roof and it still sold out all 150 units in 11 minutes.

It probably didn’t hurt that this is also the best looking M4 on sale today.

At first glance you’d notice the frozen black paint, but what you might not notice are all the other little accents that make this M4 special

We talked about the roundel on the hood being the first time BMW has ever deviated from their iconic design
Around the side you’ve got gloss black competiton wheels with red calipers peeking out
Your roof is made of carbon fiber and has a beautiful combination of the KITH and M logos and colors
And around back you have the same M and KITH logo combination taking place of the traditional M4 badge on the rear trunklid

But they say that beauty is only skin deep, and while the exterior looks great, the interior is where you spend all your time

In the cabin you also get hand-sewn custom seats and with KITH-branded embossed leather work for your headrests
Just below that, replace the M4 logo with a light-up KITH & M co-logo
And the seats themselves are the carbon M buckets in an exclusive red & blue colorway
If you liked the headrest checkerboard pattern you’ll love the mirrored detail in the center armrest
And rounding out the interior accoutrements, is the KITH & M logo below your gear selector always reminding you you’re in something special

And now, let’s go even deeper and talk about the things you CANT see..but you can hear and feel…

Yep, it’s still an M4!

It’s still clinically fast and it’s still every bit as violent as it was when we tested it on the track last October

And that’s because, mechanically, the car doesn’t change with this KITH treatment..and that’s not a bad thing!

You still get the S58 engine with the added 6 psi of boost for the competition tune
The 3 liter tT straight 6 makes 503hp and 479lbft…at least
You still get one of the quickest and best tunings of the ZF 8-speed transmission
But one thing you get here that we didn’t get at the track last year…AWD

And that AWD system is good enough at wrangling the power from that S58 that it drops the 0-60 sprint for this thing all the way to 3.4…or at least so claimed by BMW…

But some people have gotten times as low as 3.07 seconds..and that’s with a passenger!

And that’s because, unlike the old DCT you got in the last M4, this ZF transmission will get all your power to all your wheels each time you ask it to
In addition to 4 wheel traction for acceleration, you’ve also got a special limited slip differential from BMW’s M division out back helping the car feel fun, but also controlled enough that you won’t wrap it around a tree
You’ve got electronically controlled adaptive dampers that keep the balanced chassis composed through any corner at nearly any speed
And when it comes to brakes….you’ve got big ones and it reminds you of it when you stand on the stop pedal

What all of this means is that, while BMW’s design teams got creative with this one, the engineers were still all business. It’s still all M car and a great one at that.
