This video zooms into the protostar L1527, revealing how the James Webb Space Telescope sees this young star growing inside its surrounding cloud. Material falling onto the star fuels its formation, while powerful ejections carve out glowing orange and blue cavities above and below the protostar.

Webb captures bubble-like structures from past stellar “burps,” shocked hydrogen filaments shaped by earlier outflows, and striking differences in the cavity edges—some straight, some curved. The lower-right region appears blue because less dust lies between it and Webb, letting more infrared light through.
