How does Django Unchained, as a mainstream film, impact our community's culture ?
How are we processing the slave stories and images as a community?
Can we use the explicit imagery and "N" word to address current social issues, race relations, etc. progressively?
Why are so many "slavery" related films being produced and distributed in 2012/2013?

Moderator:
Nadine Patterson - is an award winning independent producer/director who produces films through Harmony Image Productions. Ms. Patterson curates the Trenton International Film Festival and she recently published her first book Always Emerging and completed principal photography for her first feature film as director Tango Macbeth.

Panelists:
Mike D. - is an award winning filmmaker and the founder of Reelblack Inc. His Reelblack Presents and Soul Food Cinema are monthly events designed to showcase classic films and work by up-and-coming filmmakers chronicling the Black experience. Since 2002, he has screened and promoted over 900 films.

Suzi Nash -- is a producer, director, musician and columnist who has been in the entertainment field for over 20 years. Nash is a weekly columnist for the Philadelphia Gay News and is also a programmer for Philadelphia Qfest, one of the largest LGBT film festivals in the US.

Dr. Richard Cooper - is a professor at Widener University and the executive producer and host of a live weekly radio program entitled the Karamu (the Feast) on WURD. Dr. Cooper is a motivational speaker, human relations and educational consultant whose special areas of interest include: Afrocentric cultural therapeutic methodol­ogy, youth & Hip­Hop cultures, educational pedagogy, African American history, and unlearning institutional racism.
