KHONGJOM PARVA by Smt. Khumanthem Sundari Devi is a traditional musical art of Manipur that involves ballad singing accompanied by the sounds of a dholak or drum. Khongjom Parva is one of the most popular musical art forms of the state. The art form depicts stories of the heroic battle of Khonjom, fought by the people of Manipur against the British empire in April 1891. The sub -genre "The Moirang Kangleirol" is about history, literature, folklore, mythology, legends, and other accounts originally associated with the ancient kingdom of KEGE MOIRANG. This particular piece is from the Manipuri epic "KHAMBA THOIBI". Nongthombam Kulijao was the first person to sing a song of Moirang Kangleirol. Following his singing style Guru Heishnam Thanga Mangoljao retain the tradition of Moirang Kangleirol. Following their foot step currently Guru Khumanthem Sundari Devi is a renowned performer of Moirang Kangleirol.

Smt. Khumanthem Sundari Devi is one of the most distinguished performing artists of Khongjom Parva Tradition in Manipur and started her career at the age of 10 years. She is a national and state awardee on multiple occasions for her contribution to the Manipuri folk songs and traditions.
