Moog Matriarch Ambient

Описание к видео Moog Matriarch Ambient

After owning the Moog Grandmother synth for a while, and absolutely loving it, I have finally caved in (with the good old man in a mid life crisis excuse of 'you only live once') and bought the Moog Matriarch. The Matriarch greatly expands on the abilities on the Grandmother. Although I've wanted one for some time, I was a little hesitant due to many of the YouTube videos featuring it having a very thick creamy vintage sound - which is great, but not quite the sound I'm after for ambient/electronic music.

So, when my Matriarch arrived yesterday, the plan was to kick off an evening of learning and patching with a quick patch exploring how delicate it can sound. I was immediately blown away with how alive it feels. The sounds and textures feel like they are pulsing through the instrument. I couldn't stop playing around with it and created a quick sequence on the Moog Subharmonicon and Mother32 (in the background) with percussion from the Analog RYTM to record a quick jam. This is really just to show how delicate and ethereal the Matriarch's oscillators can sound. This beautiful instrument has totally exceeded my expectations.

Thanks so much to anyone who takes the time to listen/like/comment/subscribe. It really is appreciated.

Quick notes on the setup.
Analog RYTM mkII - percussion.
Moog Mother 32 through TC HoF2 reverb - bass
Moog Subharmonicon through Chase Bliss Mood and MXR reverb playing sequences
Moog Matriarch through Meris. Mercury 7 - jamming chords
The only patch cables I used on the Matriarch were to take the keyboard aftertouch and route it through the filter, so I could control filter cutout with additional pressure after playing a note.

The Matriarch completes my hardware setup, which I want to keep simple and anyway lack the space for anything else. Most of my composing I do with sample libraries and VSTs in Cubase, but I love to sit down with hardware synths for the inspiring creativity they bring. What I have now provides a very capable but not overwhelming setup.
