Child-Led Feedback Sessions: Assessing our Impact in Garissa and Wajir Counties

Описание к видео Child-Led Feedback Sessions: Assessing our Impact in Garissa and Wajir Counties

In this video, we take an in-depth look at the crucial child-led feedback sessions conducted by Save the Children in Garissa and Wajir County, Kenya. Amidst Kenya's most prolonged drought in 40 years, where 4.35 million people urgently require humanitarian assistance, children have been our primary focus.

These feedback sessions provide invaluable insights into the effectiveness of our interventions under the USAID Bureau of Human Assistance's projects. As children are often the most vulnerable during crises, their input is central to our efforts to address the pressing issues at hand.

Garissa County, one of the hardest-hit regions, has seen an alarming increase in food insecurity, with 509,900 individuals in dire need, according to the Short Rains Assessment report released in February 2023. Moreover, the worsening drought situation has resulted in a significant rise in childhood acute malnutrition. A SMART nutrition survey conducted in July 2022 revealed a disturbing trend, with the Global Acute Malnutrition (GAM) rate climbing from 17.1% in July 2021 to 20.3% in July 2022. This has led to 66,771 children aged 6 to 59 months and 17,916 Pregnant and Lactating mothers requiring treatment for acute malnutrition.

Throughout this video, we emphasize the significance of child-led feedback sessions and their role in shaping our response to these challenges. We will also highlight the achievements made possible by Save the Children and ‪@USAIDSavesLives‬ .

This video and all the interventions have been made possible by the generous support of **the American people through USAID.
