If you're a fellow Foam Flinger like me, you might not have much experience in the world of Gel Blasters. I love Shotguns, so I was immediately intrigued by the Nerf GelFire Pro Raid. This is the first Gel Blaster I have ever used before, so I have no reference other than this one at the moment, but it's a shotgun that fires 5 Gel Beads at once, how bad could it be. The blaster comes with 10,000 gel balls, eye protection, and an 800 round hopper. The blaster is solid and feels good in the hand. The stock is short but usable, the grip is big and comfy, the pump grip is slightly textured but has hand stops on both sides (which is nice), it has a Tac rail on top (which is virtually useless), and holds 800 Gel rounds in the included hopper. The prime is a bit beefy, but younger players should be able to handle it for the most part. The chronograph readings were in the 160's, which is pretty good, I think and the performance was pretty consistent. The shotgun spread of the Gel Beads was pretty good as well, but varied greatly, and really depended a lot of your distance from target. Best of all, no picking up darts or cleanup of any kind. Overall, I enjoyed playing with the blaster and my son did as well. I'm not switching over to Gel anytime soon, but it is fun to plink with for sure.
