Fade Away - Homework Week 4 (Hyperbits Master Class) 8 LUFS Version

Описание к видео Fade Away - Homework Week 4 (Hyperbits Master Class) 8 LUFS Version

To help with my learning, I created an 8 LUFS compressed version of my week 4 homework to see if this solved the problem listed below.

My week 4 homework for the Hyperbits Master Class. I am really enjoying the course and have built the following track from the teachings covering week 1 to 4 (with a little from week 5). I bought the Eli and Fur Beatport sample pack and loved the musical elements from this pack. I manipulated sounds in Logic Sampler and added many of the drums to Battery. I added in a couple of other elements inspired by my favourite artists.

I am really pleased with my overall progress and look forward to my homework feedback.

With this track, I have a few questions but I suspect these questions will be covered later on by the mastering section of the course in the future.

a) Dynamic levels: on my rubbish 21inch TV speakers, the mids sound terrible as they transition at 1:32 as the bass comes in. It is as though the bass frequencies absorb the sound like a sponge but my TV cannot play them and therefore the balance sounds off. My TV speakers has zero bass response which is why I think it sounds like a drop in volume. I also removed a filter here, maybe I went too far. Maybe this is something else. Feedback here would be great.

b) Could the problem be due to my limiting? Dynamically it sounds quite wide on my TV. I have included this second homework submission, Part B where I squashed the LUFS to 8dB based on the LUFS of my reference track. I have no idea if this is a good idea. At the end of the track, this video links to Part A which is the dynamic version..

c) My other thoughts are that simply, this some bass heavy songs sound rubbish on a TV and therefore, to ignore it. It could be that my TV has an option to enhance speech and is playing with the dynamics of the track.

Thank you for the answers to these questions, they help me understand and grow. One of the main reasons why I am loving the course!
