Severe Tropical Cyclone Errol (JTWC designation 29S, BoM designation 29U) started out as a 35 kt (40 mph) TC in the afternoon hours (EST time U.S.) By April 15th, it had reached a peak intensity of 140 kts (160 mph) Category 5 Tropical Cyclone on both the SSHWS and the Australian Scale. The JTWC estimated its minimum pressure to be 919 mbs. As of this writing Errol is weakening and is moving ESE likely about to make landfall in Western Australia.

Errol is the 29th JTWC TC, 16th Hurricane-force TC and 11th Major Cyclone of the 2024-25 Southern Hemisphere Tropical Cyclone Season. By BoM Errol is the 11th Tropical Cyclone (counting an unnamed Tropical Low that was upgraded to a Tropical Cyclone by the BoM later on, the JTWC called the same system 09S) and 8th Severe Tropical Cyclone of the 2024-25 Australian Region Tropical Cyclone Season.

Errol is also the first Category 5 of the 2025 Global Cyclone Season.
