Greetings! Come along and learn how to repair stripped hinge screws on a 1700's (possibly early 1800's) Pennsylvania Dutch blanket chest properly! Stripped screws is an extremely common furniture repair problem--and many attempts to fix it only make things worse, the proper repair is to replace the damaged section of wood with a proper patch called a "dutchman." This is an old and very traditional way to repair damaged wood and has a long history of use by many trades from joiners to boat rights and every body in between.
