Morvern Wilderness | Kayak | Camp | Fish

The Morvern coast of Loch Linnhe is a pretty wild and inhospitable place, for the most part only accessible by sea, as there are no roads. This was my second attempt to tackle this remote coastline in a kayak, having tried pre-Covid and been blown off before I even started. Perfect weather this time but I still didn't get quite as far as I hoped, perhaps leaving a little bit to explore next year.

I trolled for mackerel and spun for pollack as I paddled along, making a small dent in the local fish population. A little exploring around one of the more accessible parts of the coast were followed by a few hours shore fishing before camping on a deserted beach. I finished the day with mackerel and steak cooked over a driftwood campfire, washed down by a very welcome beer.

Next morning I retraced my wake, with time out for a bit more fishing and ravaging the local wild strawberries (aka foraging 🙂). I really enjoyed this little expedition to a quiet corner of Scotland!
