"How do you clean the mixing containers after you resin?"

This is a question we get asked a lot so today Joanne has a few tips for you on what to do ( and what NOT to do ) when cleaning your dirty mixing vessels.

After you resin, you may end up with a little bit of resin left in the bottom of the container. So ... what do you do with it?

The most important thing is NOT to pour it down the drain or wash it out with soap and water - in other words, keep it FAR away from your sink and your drain, because once that resin cures, it will clog your drain, clog your pipes, make a mess of your sink and it will be very costly to repair. 😫

The other thing you DON'T want to do is to simply leave the resin to cure in the mixing vessel ... the resin will cure, alright, but will be stuck there forever and your mixing container will have to be thrown out 😢

So what DO you do with it?
Well, we've got 2 easy ways to deal with leftover resin:

1) wipe out the excess with paper towel ( and throw that paper towel in the trash right away ). You can then go ahead and use a little rubbing alcohol on a paper towel to remove any residue that may still remain. Once you're sure all traces of resin have been removed, you can then go ahead and wash your mixing vessel in warm, soapy water.
Let it dry and it's good to go for next time!

2) The easiest method ( and our favourite here at the ArtResin studio ) is to simply tip your mixing vessel upside down on a worksurface protected with parchment paper, wax paper, a silicon mat or a vinyl shower curtain.
Let it dry.
The next day, simply peel it off the worksurface and pull the dried resin right out of your plastic mixing vessel.

Just like that! 👍
