In the Philippines, there is a need for strong interventions to realize sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), especially in rural areas. In this video, we learn about the incredible work being done to secure sexual health and rights in the Philippines so women, girls and people of diverse sexual orientation and gender identity can exercise control of their bodies and futures.

We speak with Jana, a young Indigenous workshop facilitator collaborating with Oxfam Canada partner PKKK. She is standing up for her rights and the rights of others in her community, by demystifying taboos surrounding sexual health and gender identity. Today, the workshop introduces innovative activities like body mapping exercises and discussions around sexual orientation and gender identity expression. Jana’s work impacts many youths who participate in her workshops and in particular Gwen, a resilient transgender boy navigating a myriad of challenges related to his identity.
