Authorities in northwest China's Shaanxi Province say they may seek a civil claim for compensation, for the damage done to a terracotta warrior statue, while it was on loan to a museum in Philadelphia in 2017. This comes after an inconclusive trial on Tuesday in the case of a U.S. man who was accused of breaking a thumb off the statue and taking it away while it was on display. But the jury was unable to reach a verdict, on whether he was guilty of the charges against him, including theft and concealment of an object of cultural heritage.
