Hey, how's it going Today we're gonna take a look at the Thule RodVault 4-pole carrier and see how well it fits on our 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. Now, if you are a fly fisherman and you're gonna be out on the road, you generally gonna wanna keep your rides protected and secure, and this is gonna cover both of those things. So let's see how well it fits on our truck. So as far as keeping your rides nice and secure, you're gonna have two keys and a key to light to the both the box as well as two of your clamps for your crossbar system. Now these are gonna work well for poles up to 10 feet long and fully strung up so you can keep that in mind. One thing that I really like is the fact that anytime you close it, it's already secure.

You can only open it with the key so you know it's good to go. I'm using the Thule Track Rack, Ladder Rack system on the back of this Colorado and it's like 27 inches as far as how high it is to get over the cab, so you want to keep that in mind. Now I do like the fact that it is so narrow so it doesn't take up your whole roof rack, so you'll be able to add other things to the top as well. Now as far as your overhang, this thing is super long. It's gonna be almost the whole vehicle and that's fine because it doesn't obstruct the view or anything and I've kind of liked the fact that I've positioned it a little farther out so I'll be able to access it a little bit easier.

Now, being on the back of the Colorado, you're gonna definitely want to have a taller friend, or personally I would just stand on the back of the bed and load and unload my pole. As far as our connection, these guys are going to work with just about any style crossbar. These guys on here, they're about three inches wide, but that's gonna work with oval, OEM, or elliptical, so you're good to go with that as well. Now as far as a better look at the locking system, you're gonna have this lock core here and you can switch it out for a Thule one key system, and that'll allow you to have one key for not only this but your roof box as well as your bike carrier. The RodVault is really aimed towards a person that's really serious about fly fishing and they have some nice quality gear and they wanna make sure it gets there safely and secure.

Now if you are also looking for an alternative, I would say the Yakima Top Water is a solid carrier as well. That's gonna get everything nice and secure. Just covers a wider variety of different types of rods and reels. Now honestly, I think it'd be cool once you get out there and catch those fish that you sent us a photo 'cause I wanna see that because we love having that interaction with you.
