Why are people drawn to haunted house attractions each and every year? What makes us want to walk in there and explore, knowing that it’ll terrify the living daylights out of us? Everyone experiences fear quite differently, but we’ve assembled a panel of scare experts to discuss ALL these terrifying things.
Like any discipline in the themed entertainment industry, creating a truly thrilling and haunting immersive experience can be broken down. From creating detailed sets to casting the perfect scare actors, a haunted experience should put you in a willing suspension of disbelief. One of the panelists, Dr. Margee Kerr, PhD, a sociologist and author studying fear at the University of Pittsburgh, added to the conversation by noting that fear can help you feel amazing, especially when walking into a haunted house and being able to be present in its fantasies. We also heard from Jon Braver of Delusion and Rick West of Midsummer Screams who talked about what kept guests coming back and lining up to get their annual scare fix with their haunting encounters.
What could possibly be fun about getting scared? Join us as the panelists dissect every aspect of thrills, haunts, and more which might help you learn more about yourselves and how fear can be fun!
