Sydney Metro Cab View - Chatswood to Tallawong - March 2022

Описание к видео Sydney Metro Cab View - Chatswood to Tallawong - March 2022

Cab ride along the entire length of Sydney's Metro North West line from Chatswood to Tallawong. These trains are fully automated - ie driverless - so this view is actually from the passenger saloon in the leading car. The section of line from Chatswood to Epping opened in 2009 as part of the Sydney suburban railway network, and was used by Sydney's iconic double-deck suburban electric trains. In 2018 the line was closed to be integrated into the new Metro system, which opened in 2019. The line is about 4/5ths underground, with the final section beyond Bella Vista being a mixture of elevated and at ground level. At Epping, you will see the tunnel leading to the above ground connection with the Sydney Trains Northern Line. When Epping-Chatswood was part of the main system trains used this connection on a regular basis, but now it is only used for transfer of maintenance vehicles etc. Being driverless, the Metro trains don't run with headlights turned on, and the windscreen gets pretty dirty. The dark tunnels were very much pushing the limits for my poor little GoPro, so I had to create an artificial 'night vision' effect in editing.
