Pakistan’s Foreign Office has highlighted China’s role in helping ease tensions between Pakistan and India during the May conflict.

Speaking at the weekly briefing in Islamabad, the FO spokesperson said China’s leadership remained in constant contact with Pakistan’s leadership and also made certain contacts with the Indian side.

According to the Foreign Office, these diplomatic engagements contributed to de-escalation and helped promote peace and regional security.

The spokesperson described Beijing’s efforts as “diplomacy for peace”, saying such positive diplomatic exchanges played a role in “bringing down temperatures” in the region and advancing security and prosperity.
