We were very lucky in the first round of ballot for World Cup tickets and secured tickets to three group-stage matches. We were even luckier when we knew after the draw that we would be watching defending champion Germany and Mexico.

On match day, we took the metro Line 1 from Okhotny Ryad in Red Square area towards Luzhniki Stadium.

Most Mexican fans got off one stop earlier at Frunzenskaya station and the chants continue.

It was clear that the Mexican fans had coordinated before hand to make the trek together as a group to the stadium. I reckoned that there were at least 40,000 Mexican fans in Moscow that day.

It was mostly sea of green in the stadium with only a pocket of flag-waving Germans.

We were so impressed by Mexican fans' passion and we decided to visit the country (a long way from Singapore!) the following year in April 2019.
