Lot of people have been asking me what the closest "really nice" beach is to Chania Crete. Nea Chora is the closest beach and there's a few down the strip towards Platanias, but Kalathas is the closest "really nice" beach to Chania on the Akrotiri Peninsula.

Seitan Limania is actually the best on the Peninsula, but you've got to hike down to that one and it's on the other side of the airport. Kalathas is easily accessible by rental car or by taxi has some small hills surrounding it and an island that you can swim out to and chill. Also has a great beach restaurant and plenty of area to chill out and swim.
