Roughly 700 miles southwest of Rio de Janeiro is its less well-known cousin, Florianópolis. Encompassing the entirety of Santa Catarina Island, several smaller islands, and part of the mainland, Florianópolis is known as “Ilha da Magia,” or “the Magic Island” because of its stunning tropical landscapes.

It’s a hotspot for parties and tourism, but has never reached the same level of popularity of its cousin to the northeast. With over 60 beaches within the city limits, unique recreational activities, and succulent seafood at every turn, Florianópolis deserves that same recognition, and I’m going to show you why in this Florianópolis travel documentary!
