Rebellion Week 4: Talis Ivani defends her Gladiator Championship following a request from Seymour, who noted that Talis had not defended her championship since The Royal Rumble and that she was subject to defending it or else be stripped of it.

Anthony agreed with this, but Seymour was also granted the say in who was first in line and opted to choose Kaguri Okihira. Seymour then made it clear to Anthony that negligence like this will make his implied take over difficult to push if he’s mismanaging champions. Kaguri gladly accepted the opportunity and will face Talis to open the last Rebellion before Ides of March.

Following the match, Aria is shown backstage with Velvette as they prepare for a 3 v 3 tag match later on tonight where it will be Aria, Lucille, & Salem against The Inquinistas. Velvette informs Aria that Liv and Sabina will be back before Wrestlemania, but will not be around for Ides of March. Aria thanks her and says she’ll wish them well before tonight ends. Velvette then checks on Aria and asks if she is doing well to which Aria says that she is and is relieved that Beatrix’s premonition with the tarots was exaggerated.

Velvette asks if Aria did actually believe the readings to which Aria admits part of her did, but as a whole, it’s likely nothing more than a coincidence. She does admit that Beatrix has been right in the past and that there is SOMETHING about her that informs her ahead of time about bad tidings. Velvette agrees that Cleona’s actions have harmed Salem and Lucille more than herself which has her pondering if Beatrix simply had the wrong interpretation. Aria considers it irrelevant as the deed was done and Cleona has made her intentions and loyalties known.

Meanwhile, Lucille is also sitting alone thinking to herself when Salem walks by and asks if she is well to which Lucille admits she’s not. Salem sits across from her and agrees that Cleona’s betrayal stings, but they had grown apart over the past few years, especially with Cleona and Hernando becoming an item. What should matter now is just standing with Aria and backing one another.

“It’s not just that though.” Lucille says as Salem raises an eyebrow. “I am angry at Cleona for what she did, but I understand why she did it. She has life left in her and she doesn’t want to waste her days sitting in the back when she knows she can do better. Don’t you feel the same, Salem? Don’t you feel like we’re just reacting to what’s going on around us rather than taking charge for ourselves?” Lucille asks and Salem thinks for a moment and nods.

“I see what you mean. Hell, I did act out of jealousy towards you not so long ago, eh? And what did it gain me? Just heartache and pain… There is a way to stand up and demand recognition and reclaim it, but you don’t do it by stabbing people in the back. You don’t pull others down to elevate yourself. That’s what people like Dimaria, Lyra, Mary, or Jamyra do. That is why while I feel anger at Cleona, I’m also saddened and disappointed by her. Why attack Aria when she pretended to have her back? That’s not defiance, bravery, or self-empowering; it’s cowardice.” Salem says as Lucille nods and looks down.

“Maybe… But it did put eyes on her. Maybe it is cowardly and wrong, but its effectiveness is being felt by all of us. I mean, we’re talking about her right now. Match later tonight notwithstanding. She has gotten what she wanted and I kind of envy her for it. I was on top of this business, Salem. I was seen as an equal to Jason, Samuel, Jasmine, and Raiya.”

“Now? I’m spoken about in past tense. So are you. I want to change that sooner rather than later. Don’t you?” Lucille asks as Salem eyes her for a moment and shrugs to which Lucille pats her leg and says for her to just ponder it for a moment while she grabs them something refreshing to drink. Salem smiles at her and then ponders before looking back at Lucille and shaking her head about something.
