Collegium Institute and the Catholic Philopatrian Literary Institute invite you enjoy this evening lecture featuring Cardinal Gerhard Müller, former Prefect of the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and Dr. Jessica Murdoch, Associate Professor of Fundamental and Dogmatic Theology at Villanova University. Cardinal Müller's remarks center on his forthcoming book, What is Catholicism?

Cardinal Müller, former Prefect of the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, was appointed bishop of Regensburg, Germany, in 2002 by Pope John Paul II. He was elevated to archbishop in 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI and to cardinal in 2014 by Pope Francis. He has served on the Pontifical Council for Culture, Congregation for Catholic Education, and the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. With over 500 total academic publications, Cardinal Müller has published in a variety of fields, including ecumenism, modern theology, the theology of revelation, theological hermeneutics and ecclesiology.

Dr. Jessica Murdoch then offers a brief comment on Cardinal Muller’s preview of his new book. Dr. Murdoch, an Associate Professor of Theology at Villanova University, specializes in the philosophy and theology of St. Thomas Aquinas, metaphysics and epistemology, papal teaching, and matters concerning women, marriage and the family from a Catholic perspective. Formerly a member of the Pastoral Council of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, she currently serves the Church on the Executive Board of the National Advisory Council of the USCCB and as a catechist at Sacred Heart Parish in Royersford, PA.
